About EssentialFRCS

EssentialFRCS is a question bank for Section 1 of the Intercollegiate FRCS (General Surgery) examination. It is built and run by London MedAcademy Ltd, a London company that develops exam preparation platforms for doctors, including EssentialMRCS for the MRCS examination and EssentialPLAB for the PLAB and UKMLA.

The questions are written and reviewed by UK-based surgeons who have sat and passed the FRCS themselves and who work in the specialties the exam tests. Each one is a single best answer item in the format of the paper, and each explanation sets out the reasoning for the correct answer, why the other options are wrong, a key point to carry into the exam, and the guideline, consensus statement or trial the question rests on. Candidate feedback on any question goes straight to the authors and is used to correct and improve the bank.
